TRUST - HAVE WE LOST IT REALLY?
Few days back while I was driving on a busy road, waiting, dodging and carefully going forward to my destination, a thought crossed my mind. Trust - it is a big word. It has made lives. It has destroyed careers. It has a huge payback debt too. However, is it true that in the fast moving world trust is slowly losing its existence? At many instances, I have seen and heard these thoughts surfacing.
However, when I think of a simple instance of driving on road - I feel trust will have to exist till mankind does. In every small and big way, it has to coexist with the super-being called human. Now coming back to driving on road, when we are on our path on a vehicle, a two-wheeler, four-wheeler or a public transport, don't we trust the other people on road? We do not know them. We may have not met them before. Still the factor of trust exists. One may wonder how. We trust they will follow their lane. We trust they will apply brakes if we are crossing. We trust them to follow the rules. Even in the public vehicles, we trust an unknown driver. Sometimes the driver whom we have not even seen. That is the trust so easily placed not only by us but unknowingly by everyone there.
It happens in many phases of life, but the instance is so trivial that it goes unnoticed. It happens everywhere- in a hotel where we trust the cook and the waiter that the food being served is hygienic and safe to consume. Trust exists when we buy things from a shop may be small or big that the thing we purchase shall stand up to our expectation. Trust follows when we meet a doctor, and we place the lives of ours and beloved in his/her hands. Trust is there when we entrust our child's future in the hands of a teacher. In all walks of life, at all times, trust has been there and will be there. Otherwise, it is impossible for us to survive.
So, the good news is trust is there, and it will have to be there till the end of the world!!!
Regards
SRN
