I
I - this seemingly small, single-lettered word is not as it seems to be. It is a huge word and can engulf everything around it when it assumes its true form.
I - the word is like a black hole that can consume everything around it. The difference between human beings and animals is that human beings are supposed to have emotions, intelligence, empathy, sympathy, kindness, etc. That's what God must have thought for when he designed his most wonderful creation. However, just like everything else when emotions were poured into human beings, it can't just be the positive ones - as always, the opposite had to follow.
I am not sure though I feel amongst all the undesired emotions - EGO is the one that we should be most careful about. You cannot correct another's ego but yes, your own can be kept in check. It is almost impossible to make one realize about his/her ego. The one who is encapsulated in the dark clouds of ego will never be able to see the reality. The only possibility is self-realization and correction.
That is why in the beginning there was a mention of the word I. This over-exaggeration of oneself always happens through the word I.
When a person keeps I above everyone and everything else - he/she gives birth to the quality of selfishness. Selfishness gives opportunity for neglect of feelings of others. This neglect then becomes the basis for other feelings like anger, grief, loneliness, jealousy and many more to follow.
I - the abnormal obsession of feeling that one is above everything and everyone else, is unbelievably dangerous. It can be cruel to people around you. One may not even realize the damage caused by this feeling of I. The damage is not only to others but in due course also to oneself too.
Be careful. Be humble. Be polite. Remember we do not possess anything in this world that actually belongs to us. We do not have any real possessions. If we understand this, shedding off this cover of ego will be easy.
