Goodness

It is often seen that beautiful things are found in unusual places like a beautiful Lotus in muddy waters, diamonds deep under the Earth's crust, a pearl hidden in the shell under the sea and so on. This is a reference I am forced to make today because I too happened to find some rare quality in an unusual place.

Yesterday, while watching the episode of the popular KBC (Kaun Banega Crorepati) , I noticed that contrary to the common belief that goodness is slowly eradicating I found a lot of it at one place - that is this episode of KBC. A humble player with a background more humble than him plays his way to the dream prize money of 1 crore but while he travels carefully and diligently, he has this army of people known and unknown cheering and praying for him in the studio and homes including me.

This quality is indeed appreciable because the prayers that are going from the depths of hearts of people who have known this person just by a brief introduction of not more than five minutes want his problems to be over, his dreams to come true and that he wins a huge huge prize money. All this with no selfish intentions. Everyone prayed and cheered rather innocently that this contestant must win not just because of sympathy for his circumstances but also because he did deserve it. He had the treasure of knowledge which would be the key to yet another treasure.

People in the audience cried, the host - Amitabh Bachchan had tears in his eyes and people danced in the studio and screamed with joy at homes when the prize was announced. This is sheer selfless love for another human being. That is exactly what human beings are designed for. Such incidents often build hope in us that yes the world is yet livable. There are souls who can wish unconditional good for others. 

I too was extremely happy praying all the while he must take home an excellent amount not only because of the emotions I had developed to his journey so far but also because he was a suitable contestant with great knowledge that he must have amassed through hard work and dedication.

Goodness prevails. The prayers of many were heard yesterday. I believe that prayers that are innocent, selfless and for the good of others are answered quickly even by the All- Powerful. May be that's why the wishes of thousands were granted in just a meager time of an hour.

Lots has been written and said from ages and beyond about the quality of goodness. Gurus, prophets, saints, philosophers and numerous others spent their lives - some even sacrificed their lives just to make humans understand the quality of goodness, and rest above everything is selfless love and compassion towards your fellow beings. Wars fought just to establish the power of goodness over evil. All this just to reiterate that as human beings the first and foremost emotion expected from us would be empathy and understanding towards others.

Small things build hope. Yesterday's this little time spent helped me to believe in the beauty of goodness. Goodness makes you feel light. It is such a beautiful emotion. I just pray this happens more often to more people numerous times and Earth would be a heaven to live.
