The silver line

Every dark cloud has a silver line, it is just that we have to look for it. Sometimes we get so blinded by the darkness and hopelessness that we forget we have to look for the silver line. The battle is lost when we lose hope and not otherwise.

One of my close relatives is a very planned individual. He plans everything well in advance after a lot of research and time investment so as to not make any mistakes and he seldom does. He has already invested in many places - small and big planning in advance.

However, one fine day, he is introduced by an acquaintance to an insurance agent and the agent visited his place with an investment plan. However, having already invested in other plans, he refuses. The agent comes again a few days later and again he refuses. This continues every 15 days, later the frequency is reduced to once a month. Even though the frequency is reduced, the trial trips are consistent.

Every month, sometimes more than once, the visit to my relative's house is fixed. The purpose remains the same. Now the stage has arrived when the house members are actually tired of listening the same thing over and over again. However, the agent is persistent. Every month it is the same affair. The agent comes. Everyone in the family knows the purpose of his visit. The whole scenario is the same. The agent comes, tea etc. is offered, after a few moments of casual conversation back to point and that's the request to buy a policy. This goes on for almost three years, and then the day arrived finally.

It's an usual evening and everyone in the house at their own chores. The doorbell rings and not to anybody's surprise, it is the agent for his usual monthly visit. As always welcomed, offered tea, casual talks and then back to point - one insurance investment.

This time, it did not fail. My relative finally purchased one inspite of already having other policies. The formalities done and the agent was about to leave with a winning feeling, and that's when the lady of the house halted him and said that it had been three years of perseverance and patience and that's truly applaudable. The agent smiles and leaves thanking for the investment.

So, the moral of the story is if at any point the agent had turned hopeless or missed the track of silver line, this opportunity wouldn't have knocked his door.

That's why never miss out on that shine in the dark. Be patient, consistent and perseverant. It pays!

Take care
